Dahlia growing is at the heart of Field & Florist. For four weeks, during late summer and early fall, shareholders will receive 12 to 15 stems of exquisite F&F dahlias each Wednesday. Recipients will be notified by call or text when flowers have been left on their doorstep. We will keep track of what you receive from week to week and do our best to offer color variety.

In a way, the pandemic brought us full circle. Field & Florist started by offering Chicago’s first flower share program in 2012. Inspired by the CSA model, the flower share allows farmers like us to depend on stable sales, knowing that there won’t be any crop loss with harvest, while providing shareholders with a reduced cost of product per stem and either weekly in-store pick up at either shop (free) or a one-time discounted delivery fee that includes all four weeks.

What to expect

Each week you will receive 12 to 15 gorgeous and freshly harvested dahlia blooms from our farm wrapped in a bouquet for transport. Dahlias have an approximate vase life of 5 to 7 days and varieties will vary week to week depending on what is coming into bloom.

When will my share begin?

Peak dahlia season in our growing zone is September through mid-October. As with our Spring Ranunculus Share, we will begin weekly deliveries on a first come, first served basis. Example: if you are the first to join the share, you will receive flowers as soon as the first stems are ready for harvest. Depending on the weather and other conditions of the growing season, that could mean as early as the last week of August. Other shareholders will be notified in the order that they joined that their weekly deliveries are beginning as blooms become available for harvest. All shareholders will receive four consecutive weeks of our farm’s dahlias.

What are your growing methods?

We use organic growing methods to produce our dahlias. We never use synthetic or conventional pesticides, toxins or plant nutrients at our farm.

Can I give this as a gift?

Yes. Fill the recipient’s delivery address into the “shipping address” section at checkout. You can also include a gift note that will be sent with the first delivery.

Can you order two to be sent to separate addresses?

Yes! To do this, complete checkout individually using the shipping address for the delivery address. If you have or create a customer account, payment information will be stored securely to make it easy.

If you want two or more shares sent to the same home, you can do so by selecting a quantity and clicking ‘Purchase’ a single time which will prompt a single delivery information page.

DELIVERY

Delivery address (shipping address) will be collected at checkout. Wednesday delivery is available to the majority of Chicago, Oak Park & Evanston zip codes.

Free pick up is available at both shops — Wednesdays / 10 AM to 6 PM
