“With is™ and was™, we wanted to create a dialogue between two different forms of intelligence, one rooted in centuries of perfumery tradition, the other in algorithms and data. By not revealing which fragrance comes from which source, we invite people to encounter them without bias, and to reflect on how the boundary between human and machine creativity is shifting. For me, this project created with Symrise is less about providing answers, and more about sparking curiosity about what it means to be human in an age of synthetic life.”

is™ by Neandertal is presented as the brighter half of a conceptual duo. It combines fresh, fruit-like facets and a subtle gourmand hint of chocolate with a clean, chalky and slightly metallic impression. The composition emphasizes green and aromatic tones with a woody–musky foundation, aligning with the brand’s conceptual exploration of future-facing themes and synthetic life.
