Zernell Gillie — Techno
Extrait de Parfum
Detroit in the 80s.
A cocktail of raspberry-forward juicy red fruit punctuates the room with a foggy ray of light. You can still smell the factory that was here. You can smell the production of plastic auto components in a room now enlivened by bodies. Bodies warm like amber and tonka, moving at 130 bpm to tight, machine-like rhythms in the dark. But it’s not a sad trap of nostalgia or a soul-less pulse of the past. It’s a collective reworking of the site of production. The thing we produce and celebrate now is collective reanimation of the very spaces designed to alienate us. The DJ cuts in a Drexciya track — pulsating, taking us deeper into an underground (underwater) world of earthy, woody tones. IYKYK.
