Eau de Parfum

Black was originally created as part of a site specific olfactive installation for Matte Projects. The fragrance and corresponding installation were developed to conjure ghosts at an underground music and art event with over 5,000 guests in an abandoned warehouse in New York.

Black is truly something special. There’s the sweet bite of a particular balsamic note at play in this composition that sends it glistening toward that quiet cab ride home at dawn. Exhausted but content with only ghosts of the night’s beautiful encounters — maybe the ones we were trying to conjure all along.

“The scent explores the many facets of darkness, built around ingredients such a vetiver, cypriol, styrax, and the variety of textures present in a warehouse party, including cement. Yet, there is a warmth and sense of comfort with the smell of resin and a complexity and deepness with ingredients such as leather accords, clergy sage, cedarwood, and ginger, framing the spirit of MATTE Projects.”
