ZERNELL GILLIE

Zernell Gillie was born and raised on the west side of Chicago in the early years of house music. At 14 he began spinning records. “The one thing that kept me safe and sane was music. To be exact, House music. The music lifted me up and made me feel alive and I wanted to share that feeling with the world. That’s when I decided I wanted to be A DJ.”

Over the next 30+ years he did just that, becoming one of the most respected and hardworking names in Disco/House. While constantly touring the world, he seemed to naturally excel at a number of other ventures, founding two wildly popular record labels (Grimy Edits & Grimy Trax), a clothing line (Grimy Gear), a record fair and afterparty series (Crate Diggers), a monthly show on NTS Radio LA (Get Grimy) and more.

Like all his ventures, the Zernell Gillie fragrance line was born out of passion. As he traveled the world, he amassed a substantial collection of bottles only rivaled by his extensive stacks of deep-cut vinyl. “I love music and I love fragrance. I always have since I was a kid wearing my dad’s Pierre Cardin.” It made him feel special, and sparked the life-long love affair that inevitably led to the development of his own music-inspired parfums.

Like the House and Disco tracks that caught the attention of Gillie in his youth, his signature fragrances are uplifting, full of color, dimension and nuance.
