A Collaboration between Marjane Satrapi (Artist) and Mathilde Bijaoui (Perfumer)

Marjane's personality is radiant, she is warm and very assertive—like the matte orange red hue of her lips or the contrasting colors of her portraits of women—and the general idea of ​​Ambre à Lèvres took shape very quickly. Amber was immediately mentioned, but the backbone of the composition is the smell of her great-aunt's lipsticks, which she remembers so vividly. She wanted a straightforward perfume, free of ambiguity. This strong vision was very inspiring. I built the lipstick note around Florentine iris and a trace of rose absolute, essential for this effect, while amplifying the cosmetic aspects with the addition of powdery accords of violet and heliotrope. Two types of vanilla, absolute and Pure Jungle Essence, form a bridge between the floral accord and the amber facet, hemmed with benzoin, tonka bean and a suede accord. Finally, the musks enable the composition to breathe and serve to reinforce the comforting and enveloping aspects of the fragrance, like the memory of a loved one.
