Eau de Toilette

Gothic, twilight, darkest night, smoke. These are some of the many words Black’s devoted cult have used to describe the transportive qualities of this new classic. What is most shocking - given this ultra-dark formula - is that the sum of its parts is incredibly wearable, even beautiful.

Those that have spent enough time in the CDG corner of the niche fragrance world know that many scents from this house aim to reorient and surprise. However, the initial impression is often deceiving and Black is a great example.

Upon drydown, the “too much-ness” of smoke turns sensual, serious and intensely intimate. Complex harmony between medicinal licorice and hercules club (pepperwood) - a tree native to the southeastern US with a strong citric scent - cuts through the thickness, lifting Black’s darkness while emphasizing its presence by contrast.
